Credit for Solar Energy Technology in Indonesia

The project objective is to create a competitive credit market for a few selected Solar Energy Technologies Systems (SETs) in Indonesia. The initiative will promote the mainstreaming and commercialisation of SETs lending through local financial institutions and increase outreach to rural low income households that would benefit the most from solar energy applications.

Project development Phase was launched in early 2006 with an initial funding from German Ministry of Environment (BMU). Discussions were held with various stakeholders, including financial institution for partnership in the proposed project. Feasibility studies for two selected technologies; Solar Home Systems and Solar Crop Driers have also been carried out

The project is being implemented jointly by URC and UNEP.
