The project
objective is to create a competitive credit market for a few selected Solar
Energy Technologies Systems (SETs) in Indonesia. The initiative will promote
the mainstreaming and commercialisation of SETs lending through local
financial institutions and increase outreach to rural low income households
that would benefit the most from solar energy applications.
Project development Phase was launched in early 2006 with an initial funding
from German Ministry of Environment (BMU). Discussions were held with
various stakeholders, including financial institution for partnership in the
proposed project. Feasibility studies for two selected technologies; Solar
Home Systems and Solar Crop Driers have also been carried out
The project is being implemented jointly by URC and UNEP.
