Carbon Finance for Sustainable Energy in Africa (CF-SEA)

Mali National Workshop

The project was designed to build the local capacity of public and private sectors in Mali, Cameroon, Zambia, Ghana, and Mozambique to implement CDM projects with clear community benefits.

Activities included capacity building workshops, identification of project portfolios, support to Designated National Authorities in establishing a national approval procedure, and assistance in developing and producing Project Identification Notes and Project Design Documents.

The project was implemented by UNEP's Division of Technology, Industry and Economics (DTIE), the World Bank’s Community Development Carbon Fund (CDCF), and URC, in cooperation with local financial institutions, consultants and civil servants. Support for the  project has come from UNEP, UN Foundation and the World Bank.

Some of the emission reduction projects identified by CF-SEA may be further developed by CDCF in order to purchase the emission reduction credits generated.
